Full Harvest Moon....

Reporting from the RRC
(Remington Research Center).
I am scrambling to get all of
my important research done!
I have even put the
Vikings Secret Playbook
 on hold.
According to my calendar the full moon is
 Thursday night
BUT
in doing my research I have found
it is in fact tonight!
So I have been very busy getting my
 information ready for everyone!
I am certain, however, that tomorrow night
it will be just a pretty!
I get confused sometimes with these moons!

So, without further adieu.....

Keep you eyes to the sky tonight for the
Full Harvest Moon.
The reason it is called this is because at the
peak of the harvest, farmers can work into
the night by the light of this moon.
Here is pic from the internet I found.
I hope Mike can a get a good picture of it tonight!
And to top it off we have other things
to look up at the sky for also!
There is a blazing star like light near tonight’s moon.
It is the solar system’s largest planet Jupiter,
which just yesterday reached its opposition
– when Earth flew between Jupiter and the sun.

Also, the full moon will not fall on the
September equinox again until the year 2029,
and Jupiter’s next
comparably good appearance
on the  September equinox
will not happen for another 12 years.

To find Jupiter look near the moon for
the bright planet, almost
three times brighter than the
brightest star in the sky, Sirius.

Uranus will also be at its closest to earth
but a pair of binoculars will
be needed to see the much fainter planet.

Look for an emerald-colored disk
near Jupiter just beneath the full harvest moon.

So the coming celestial lineup
is an excellent time to find
that planet with binoculars
or a small telescope,
using Jupiter as a helpful guidepost.

Isn't this just the coolest thing!

So enjoy this evening and howl really loud at
the Full Harvest Moon tonight.
After which you can get out
your binoculars and try and find the planets!

Later -- Remington --
a BIG howl to all of you tonight!
-- out!

We are cloudy and raining. Hopefully, things will break at least long enough to get a peek at all the heavenly action! If not...shine on Harvest Moon...
