Bird Dog here....it's been awhile and now it's time to get back to work. In our summer travels we came upon a strange looking bird in the Fergus Falls, MN area. It is called the American White Pelican. In doing my research I have found that they are one of North Americas largest birds. They are about 50 inches long and have a wingspan of 7 feet and they weigh 8 to 10 pounds. They eat fish. They eat about 4 pounds of fish a day. When they hunt for fish they fly about 60 to 70 feet above the water. They have excellent eyesight and when they dive in the after their prey they also get about 3 gallons of water in their mouth too. They then drain it and eat the fish. I thought they looked very interesting. A little funny looking but kinda cool. That's it for today folks. Until next time. Remington "The Bird Dog" out!
