Serious weekend....

Please note my serious look....
why, you ask?
Because it's a serious weekend!

This weekend gun deer hunting
starts in WI.

I have stated what will go on at
our place....

We only have 7 acres of land but
as I told Miss Daisy....
we can protect many of her friends
and family right here!

In fact, just yesterday her Uncle Buck

not to be confused with....

 came running SO
scared as he had seen people out
scouting out places to hunt!

I told him he has a safe place here with us.

Hawkeye is keeping an eye out for us
and will alert us if he sees any
unwanted guests.....

Miss Daisy said she would make some calls to
others she knows that may be in danger.

So I DO think we have everything under control....

Also I have to take off on Saturday to the spa.
I have left Buck, Jr. in charge while I am away....

I have complete trust in him.

Football update --

I have given the Vikings the weekend off.

And I have scheduled Green Bay to play the Lions....

Being the Vikings had a victory over
them last week we will see
how Green Bay does this weekend....

Green Bay vs Lions

From RRC
(Remington Research Center)

SKY WATCH ALERT!

Leonid meteor shower peak: late night November 16 until dawn November 17
Radiating from the constellation Leo the Lion, the Leonid meteor shower is famous.
Historically, this shower has produced some of the greatest meteor storms in history –
at least one in living memory, 1966 – with rates as high as thousands
of meteors per minute during a span of 15 minutes on the
morning of November 17, 1966. Indeed, on that beautiful night in 1966,
the meteors did, briefly, fall like rain.
Some who witnessed the 1966 Leonid meteor storm said
they felt as if they needed to grip the ground,
so strong was the impression of Earth plowing along through space,
fording the meteoroid stream. The meteors, after all, were all streaming
from a single point in the sky – the radiant point –
in this case in the constellation Leo the Lion.
Leonid meteor storms sometimes recur in cycles of 33 to 34 years,
but the Leonids around the turn of the century –
while wonderful for many observers – did not match the shower of 1966.
And, in some years, the Lion whimpers rather than roars,
producing a maximum of perhaps 10-15 meteors per hour.
Like most meteor showers, the Leonids ordinarily pick up steam
after midnight and display the greatest meteor numbers just before dawn.
In 2012, however, the waxing crescent moon will setting at early evening,
leaving a dark night for Leonid meteor shower.
Begin watching anytime around mid-November 2012.
The peak morning will be November 17.
Have fun!

This should be good!
Maybe I can talk my girlfriend,
Sweet Sasha
into getting up a little
early to watch them with me!

I know she is pretty tired after
coming over for all the
birthday parties but it
would be memorable....
She is the BEST girlfriend
EVER!

Have an AWESOME weekend,
my friends!
And if you are a deer in WI....
please be careful!

Later -- Remington --
 just in case a
reminder is needed....
-- out!

I'm glad you got serious and are letting all your wild friends have refuge from the hunters on your land Remington. At least they can feel safe there. Thanks for the update from the RRC. I didn't know about the meteor shower and will have to remember to watch. I see your Green Bay is now playing my Lions this weekend. Good luck to both!

Rem, what if you had LOTS and Lots of corn cobs out there so Daisy and her family could feed away from all of those hunters?!

I share your chagrin! Yesterday we were bird watching Sandhill Cranes and less than a half mile away we could hear guns blasting away! Fortunately the cranes stayed where it was safe, but they looked nervous!

Hope to see the Leonids if the clouds would just go away! :)
Have a great weekend and enjoy the spa!

I hate that they still do that. We get lots of deer at our beach place.

Thanks for the info on the Leo meteor shower. Sounds like it could be nice to see. I'll tell Jodie Belle to wake me up when she sees it ... she always wakes up earlier than I do. Like 3 or 4.

Enjoy your weekend !!!

Like your signs. We only have 3 more days of "deer hunting" around here. YAY!! So far the big buck across the road has managed to dodge the bullet. Hope it's quiet in your neck of the woods.

My Mind's Eye said...

Good for you Rem let them know right off how you stand on hunting...especially on private property. That is pretty scary to think folks might actually be in your woods with guns.
Hugs and happy weekend.

We think you should hand out hunter oranges vests to all on your property. That would keep them safe!

Remington, you are a sweetheart for protecting all your friends. We hope and pray they will all stay safe. What kind of lunatic gets pleasure from killing things anyway (that includes the lunatics who hunt foxes here!)
Great sign :)
