Beth again....update on Remington....

Hi -- me again....

We talked to the Dr. and went over everything.
She told us to try some over the counter meds.

They DID NOT work!  He threw them up....
So Plan B....

Talked to the Dr. again and this time
we got some prescribed meds and
we will see if this will work.
He just took them at 5:30pm
so will have to give them some time....

He has everyone stumped....
even the Dr.
Nothing has changed in his diet,
he doesn't get into anything
(he really IS a good boy),
he hasn't been around any one new,
nothing has changed in his life....

We certainly hope this will work.  He is so tired.
We have all been up since 2 this morning.
All he wants to do is lay in front of me
with my foot touching him....
if I move he gets up and follows me....
(no -- we aren't close at all -- ha ha!)
So if this is what will help my big guy
I am willing to sit there all night if he will rest.
I have a good book and my iPad so no problem!

I want to thank everyone who has prayed
for him and the caring comments,
emails and phone calls....
I appreciate every one of them!
It is so nice to know that so many people
(and furry friends) care so much
for my very best friend!
Thank you again so very, very much!

As we aren't out of the woods yet
a quick prayer if you have some time
would still be appreciated!
I know I haven't stopped praying....
and I know God is watching
over this dear friend of mine....

Dear Beth and Remington,

This is from Sophie, our mom:

Beth, I've been reading your blog religiously, but I've just been too lazy to comment lately. I am really, really ashamed and sorry. Really...

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My husband's too... We'll pray for the best every night until the big guy feels fine again.
Giant virtual hugs...

Beth, I wanted to email you but I thought I would give you some time and I knoew you would be busy. We went through this with Albert and Puddles, and they really don't get into anything either...well, Albert doesn't any way. I am not a vet but it sounds like some sort of gastro issue. Our vet was pretty stumped too.
Please know we are here for you and Remington. Let us know if you need anything. We definately have you all in our prayers. Poor Puddles is just sick woth worry.

Beth, I am continuing to pray for Remington. I have fallen in love with him and will keep praying until you are able to post again. Thanks for the news and please give him a nice scratch behind the ears for me.

Poor baby. Pip has a really sensitive stomach so we have been through this a few times over the years is so hard to see them in pain and exhausted.

Last winter there was a doggie stomach bug that went around down here in Illinois. Pip never got it, but I had friends whose dogs really got sick. Maybe it is a virus?

Hope he feels better soon!

Hoping the meds work and that the poor guy can get some rest. Hugs and prayers!

It is so hard when they are sick. It's just as bad as having a sick child! Buster had an episode where he was bitten by a black widow (determined thru blood tests) and he was panting and drooling and couldn't even eat without stopping to lay down between bites.. my hubby was out of town-I was sooo worried about him! I will be thinking of you tonight, Remington and Beth!!!

Dear Beth, Mike and Remy,
We have been without the internet for the past four days and I can barely catch my breath after reading that our dear Remington is sick.

The kids and I immediately said prayers for him and for you and will continue to pray until he is feeling better.

PLEASE PLEASE keep us posted on his progress and if there is anything we can do give us a call.

If all else fails...... here is the number to the MSU School of Veterinary Science Clinic in Lansing. Give them a call.
517 353-5420 They are open 24 hours.

Tons of hugs and Newfie kisses.
Julie, Leonardo, Grady and the kids.

I hope he gets better. Maybe you ought to get him in for an ray to see what's going on.

We have lots of tummy issues with Phantom and the poor old guy never gets into anything bad either. Sometimes a day or two with little food or just boiled hamburger and rice will help. His wanting to be so close to you seems like a sign he knows something isn't quite right with him. Huge hugs to him and you and all paws crossed.

I am a total stranger, and I love Remington and his blog. I'm so sorry the big guy is sick. Have x rays been considered to see if something is twisted up in there? My standard poodle went thru a similar event; constant throwing up, with no change of diet or anything. He did require surgery, but that was years and years ago, and he's a doddering old man now of 13. Prayers and blessings to you and Remington.

Thanks for the update. It seems like sometimes these stomach upsets come in waves for no apparent reason. I think that pups can catch things in the air just like humans. Let's hope it's just a 24-hour bug that will move on by morning. Still sending prayers.

We're praying for Remi to get better.

We are sending Remington firm and strong and loving prayers for a recovery. I'm sure that pancreatitis has been ruled out. If not, PLEASE have your vet look into it. The disease is silent and deadly but can be battled if found early.

We hope that by the time we are reading this Remington's condition will have improved.
It is so hard to see them ill but I am sure he is reassured by your staying with him, giving him hugs and strokes and love.
Best of luck with the medicine the vet gave him, It is probably just a case of finding the right thing that agrees with his fragile tummy.
I am praying Remy is back to his old self very soon, we all love him!
Hugs to you and Mike, Beth.

We got the drool machines working for Remington. We hope he feels better really soon. Just FYI....Our Bella had sickies last week, poops, tummy sickies, etc. Nothing changed in her diet vet could not find anything wrong. Sent her home with some meds and it took about 4-5 days for her to begin to feel like her old self again. I think there must be some sort of Doggie flu going around as Addy over at Jazzi's has the same thing. Get well soon you big hunk of love. Sniffs, The HoundDogs
