Winter Solstice....

Happy Winter Solstice,
my friends!

What is this day you ask....

Today is the first day of winter.
It is also the shortest day with daylight --
or the LONGEST night of the year
(depends on how you want to look at it....)

Because Earth doesn't orbit upright,
but is instead tilted on its axis
23-and-a-half degrees,
Earth's northern and
southern hemispheres
trade places in receiving
the sun's light and warmth most directly.
That's what causes winter and summer.

By the way....
Summer Solstice will be on
June 20, 2012....
not too far off!

I hope I explained it well enough for you.

Welcome Mr. Winter!

How about some snow....
PLEASE!

I can't believe I had to mow the yard....

Oh well -- it didn't take long....

Later -- Remington --
NOW the days start getting longer
-- out!

The Official Newfie
Countdown
until Christmas Eve....
days to go!

We had tons of snow at this time last year and now we have 50-60 degree weather. Confusing! We are ready for Miss Stella to have her first snow! Love the scarf : )

Morning handsome friend...
OMC Rem you are looking very dapper in your scarf. Every Newfie needs a warm scarf.
WOW no snow in MN in December that must be quite unusual.

We can send you some snow. Mom and dad put a plow on the front of our lawn tractor yesterday to clear the snow out of giant new driveway.

You look very dapper in your scarf.

Wags!

Remington, you are killin' our mom with how adorable you look in these photos!!!
Sorry about the lack of snow. It's flurrying here, so you can come down to Kansas! Of course, Mom will want to hug you a billion times and rub your tummy and stuff ... but we DO have a little of the white stuff!
Thanks for explaining the solstice thing!

You look so dashing in this scarf, Rem!!! I cannot believe you actually had to mow the lawn!!! I love your coloring, you are an artist, and the pictures of your trip look so happy!

Well, even if you don't have snow, you will be toasty warm with your handsome white scarf. We have no snow either. Seems like a repeat of last year:( At least it is nice to have the days getting longer - that makes for a better chance of a walk for us.
