Winter is coming....

Seems like only yesterday
that we uncovered
Billy the Bus....

But as we keep turning those
pages on our calendar it is showing
us that winter is almost here.

So Billy -- it's bedtime again....

Even though we didn't get to
do much together this past summer....
I am looking forward to many new
adventures next year, my friend....

Later -- Remington --
time goes too fast....
-- out!

We are interrupting this
blog for a special announcement
from the
RRC.....
(Remington Research Center)

Thank you --
Remington Sky Watcher here....

This just in....

Today, the asteroid 2005 YU55 will pass near
Earth between our planet and the moon.
This is the closest an asteroid of this size
has passed by our planet in 35 years,
and the next known approach by
a similar-sized space rock will be in 2028.

Will we be able to see it from the ground?
With a high-powered binoculars or telescope, yes.
You’ll need an objective lens at least
70mm or larger to see the asteroid
as it passes at 3:28pm PST
on November 8, and that of course,
will depend on your location,
the weather conditions
and light pollution.
It’ll be moving fast.

So if you see this --

RUN!

Thank you --

OH MY GOODNESS! I don't think I will be able to catch that rock Rem. By the way, you look nice is a suit! Your tie looks like the one my Mom wears at the Olive Garden when she works!

MOL Rem...you need to give your humble assistant a RAISE!! What a great and informative PSA!! I'm going to ask Mom to buy me a helmet!!
Last night at 10pm I MOL for mom to come see...the moon was shining so bright through the upstairs skylight (the one that has the best sunpuddles). Crazypants Mom ran outside to get a ANOTHER moon shot. Hugs from your BFFF,
Madi

You're the smartest guy, Rem!!!

Thanks for the information. I wished I lived nearby you or at least in the States now. Don't think I can see anything here, besides, my humans don't have any high-powered GLASSES at all!

First, I'm sorry that Billy has to be covered up. This is the first year, in like 30 years, that I did not get out camping. We still do a tent but I would like to upgrade to a mini trailer.

Second, that's a big rock floating around the skies. I'll have to get Mr. Boatman to get his telescope out .. if our skies are clear.

hey Remington,

Very exciting about the asteroid! It is raining now, but hopefully it will clear up before the appointed time. Paws crossed! It would be pawsome to see! I love how you pawed, "RUN!" at the end. It reminded my human of the Monty Python and the Holy Grail scene: "Run away, run away." BOL!

I am sorry you had to put Billy the Bus into hibernation, but I am not sorry that Winter is almost here! Because that means SNOW!!! I just can't wait!

Love the picture of you in your suit. Very dapper! :->

You really take excellent care of Billy! Oh, the test pattern picture!!! Would you believe that I am so old that I remember when the T.V. channels shut down for the night and they put these test patterns on!!! And I remember this one! Gosh, I must be older than I even think, to be excited about seeing an old test pattern!!!! Wow, I didn't know about the asteroid, you just know EVERYTHING, Rem!!! What would I do without your alerts? You make learning fun!

Wowzers, that thing looks scary! Thanks for the heads up, Remington!
Sorry Billy's got to go into his winter hibernation. It won't be long and you'll be out on the road together again!

that is one big asteroid, Remington. We probably won't see it as we have wet, rainy, cloudy skies. hope it lands in the ocean somewhere.

It looks like Billy will be very warm for the winter -let's hope it isn't too bad this winter.

Hey Remington, we had a request from Gracie, the beautiful kitty, to ask you about something related to why she can't leave comments on your blog. Neither she nor we know your email address. Could you send us an email at theoppack@gmail.com so we can pass along Gracie's message? Thanks.

We were so excited; momma promised to take us up to the mountains to look for the asteroid through her telescope! But it is totally overcast tonight. We were gypped!

We haves a telescope here that mom hasn't used for years and years! I am going to bug my mom to get it out!

We sure like that blankie that Billy the Bus has!

We missed out on the asteroid today, we have got to get a bigger lens. It looks like Billy Bus is well tucked in for the winter. Oh well, it will be spring before we know it .... I hope.

We are sad about our "bus" as well. We spent the whole day out there today vacuuming and stuff...getting ready to put it's cover on and zip it up for the winter. It is kind of sad though...ya know?? We DO love your tie and you look very handsome and scholarly in your suit! We will keep our eyes peeled for the ROCK!! Thanks for the warning Remington!!

It DOES seem like just yesterday and Billy was coming out for the summer. Where on earth did the summer go? I think someone stole it.
