Long weekend!

Hard to believe it is already the
Fourth of July weekend!

Beth says that means
summer is half over....

We don't have any big plans for
the long weekend.

How about you?

Whatever you do --
Be safe and have fun!

ENJOY the start
to the last half of the summer!

AND be careful with fireworks --
especially around animals....
we don't understand all that noise!

Here are some safety tips for you....

• All pets should be microchipped and wear collars and
identification tags with current information.
Cats should wear a break-away/safety collar.
Dogs should wear nylon or leather collars only.
Tags should not be placed on training collars or choke chains.

• Keep your pet indoors in a quiet, safe room
with plenty of fresh water and give dogs
several safe chew toys.
Dogs that are crate trained will do better in a crate,
while cats will do best in a room where they are most comfortable,
with food, water and their litterboxes.

• Frightened outdoor dogs have been known to jump
high fences and dig holes to escape the sound of fireworks.
Indoor animals should be kept away from
large glass windows or doors because
they are highly capable of crashing right through when scared.

• Pets are safest at home, but if you choose to
bring your buddy to a picnic or BBQ, make sure
to bring plenty of fresh water, keep your pet
in the shade and try to make sure
they do not eat table scraps,
as too much human food can cause stomach upset.
Keep a sharp eye out for bones,
because they can splinter if eaten.
Keep your pet on a leash, and
if your pet is crate trained, bring the crate along as a safe refuge.

• Never bring your pets to outdoor firework festivals or displays.

• Remember to keep a watchful eye on your
pet this Fourth of July weekend and
make sure to keep the name and
number of your veterinarian and
local animal emergency clinic on-hand in case of emergencies.

Always remember!

Have a great weekend,
my friends!

Later -- Remington --
I like looking at them from a distance
but not listening to them!
-- out!

I don't know what fireworks are. Mom say I just may hear some though. Happy Weekend! Puppy Kisses, Miss Mindy

these are all very good tips, thanks for posting them Rem, i do all of the above but there are many that do not. Jake pays no attention to the loud pops of our neighbors who break the law that says fireworks are illegal in our city, but Baby goes in her condo (our closet) and stays there until the all clear.

We're on the third floor, so we see the fireworks fine but are far away from them. Bugsy and Knuckles weren't here for the Fourth last year, so we'll see how they respond to the noise. You all have a great weekend.

What a cute picture of Ozabella.

pawhugs, Max

Hey Remington!
Wow, great post. Those safety tips are very good for everyone. Ozabella seems very happy in her tunnel. If you're looking for something to do, I'd love to see you at the Luau that Fiesty Three is hosting! It'll be a blast! Just bring your sunglasses and swimsuit!

We are going to the lake to watch them. Grandma told us that they are not loud where we will be so Bokeh and I get to tag along but mom is brining our crates just in case we need a safe place inside the car.

Enjoy your Holiday Weekend. We are going to our beach place. Everyone fur & purr wise stays inside. When the big noise arrives, they are in my bedroom on or under the bed. I usually stay with them, I can see the big bangs just fine from my window. (We live near an Indian reservation where they sell lots of fireworks so the colors go a bit wild over the water. Always safe though cause everyone does it on the beach area.)

Those sure are good tips Remington. I hope that everybody follows your advise!

I agree I like the colors in the sky but not the noise!

Sadie Lou is terrified of the noise from fireworks. Always has been. This will be Miss Stella's first Fourth so it will be interesting to see how she handles the fireworks.
Half over summer?! Uuugghh. : (

We are with you on this one, Remington. We will stay home and let the humans watch the boomers on TV, they make a lot less noise that way. Stay safe and enjoy all the fun of the holiday weekend.

Great advice my friend. This is the worst weekend for runaway pups, I have read...normally calm dogs that get freaked out by the noises and take off! We, too, are pretty much staying close to home where we feel as safe as Oz does in her new tunnel!

Let freedom ring!Happy Independence Day

No big plans here this weekend, just a nice relaxing 4TH for us.

Great safety tips Remington. Fortunately no one in our neighborhood sets off fireworks but we have everyone protected just in case.

Remington, we hope you and your family have a wonderful and very safe Happy Fourth of July!! Great tips! We are all afraid of the fireworks that the people around us set off...they are dangerous. We wish everyone would leave it to the professionals instead of booms going off all over the neighborhood all night look, every night for a week or more! That tunnel looks very safe to us! Lots of love, Debbie & Holly

Those are some great safety tips my friend! We Goldens aren't afraid of fireworks at all but my spotted sister is. But she won't run away. She'll just pace around the house, shiver & pant like a monkey. HEE HEE

Happy 4th of July!
