"Syttende Mai" and full moon....

 "Syttende Mai"

It was on May 17, 1814 that Norway's constitution
was signed which made Norway a
free and independent nation.
So today we celebrate their independence!
Beth is a Norwegian and VERY proud of this!
The picture above is of me sitting with her
first spinning wheel that was given to her
when she was 10 years old.
It belonged to her Great Grandma Lahren.
Her grandmother brought it to the states
from Norway when she was 19 years old.
That would make this wheel 122 years old and
 Beth still uses it.
Beth does not think it was new
 when her grandmother brought it
to the states so it may even be older than that.

So instead of dressing up in with a hat today
I thought it would be nice just to sit
by something from Norway!

Tonight....Lutefisk and Lefse!
I don't have a clue what that is --
but I guess I will find out!

ALSO --
from the RRC....

keep your eyes to the sky tonight for the

Full Flower Moon

From what I found in my extensive
research is that
 it is called this because
flowers are now abundant everywhere.

I certainly hope the sky is clear tonight
so my moon photographer (Mike)
can get a good picture.

Here is one from the internet....

I think full moons are SO cool!

Later -- Remington --
Happy "Syttende Mai"
and watch for that full moon!
-- Ut!

Our Mom is so envious that Beth actually knows how to spin - she would love to learn and has enjoyed the endeavors of others by knitting hand spun yarn.

The moon was very bright last night and we thought of you as we took our last walkie.

The spinning wheel is pretty awesome. It looks like it belongs to some museum... but its so cool that you can still use it.

A hand me down gift is a most special gift.

mmmmmmLefse...be sure you get some butter and maybe lingonberry jam on it! Stay away from the lutefisk, and let me know what you think of the Blud Klub (spell it?) My dad thought it was chocolate candy the first time he tried it ...hehehehe

What a wonderful spinning wheel. HH's dad used to shave the dog and give it to his daughter-in-law who would spin it into yarn... Just saying, Rem, ... watch your furs!

Oh my goodness Rem what a treasure for Beth to have that spinning wheel...I bet every time she uses it she thinks of all the history and family who used it before her.

Hi Remington, it's so nice to meet you! Bert the Golden Retriever mentioned about you in his latest blog post so I though why not drop by your place & say HI!

That is one very, very, very cool wheelie. I can't believe it is that old & still functioning good! It's amazing. Today is a very, very clear day so maybe we'll be able to see the moon tonight too.

Anyway, hope we can be friends. I'm your new follower!

That spinning wheel is so cool. If Beth ever wants any furs to spin, just let us know, we could keep her busy for a long time.

We had quite the full moon here last night and Mom says it made TD and Ciara like zoomie zombies. We will have to look for that flower one tonight.

That sure is cool to have something so old and usable in the family. Don't you wish they still made things that lasted 122 years now a days?

What a beautiful spinning wheel and how cool that Beth uses it! We have spinning wheels and flax wheels but our mom has no clue how to spin. We have rain so the full moon will be a bust for us.

Love ya lots,

Hi Remington! We are so glad that you were able to come by Barney's party - Gus was over the moon that Ozabella was there (the pre-Full Flower Moon). And wow, that is cool that today is Norwegian independence day! And that spinning wheel is so cool - and even cooler because Beth knows how to use it! How wonderful that she has such an amazing thing that has been passed down in her family - it is definitely a treasure!

You look good sitting by the spinning wheel. Can Beth use any of your finest fur to make yarn with for knitting? When I brush BooBoo, I let his fur float on the wind and like to think a bird or two would use it in their nest building.

I was wondering about the full Flower Moon and if you were going to share it with us! You know so many interesting things and have made me much more aware of the names of our full moons. ♥♫
