April 22....

Today is Earth Day.

We should all do our part to
make this a better place to live
for generations to come.

This is one of my favorite
SpongeBob books....

Excellent!

Here is a fun project for you to try --

You can make a nifty magazine holder
from an old cereal box.

Cut off top of cereal box. Halfway across top of box,
cut at a 45 degree angle down
to front of your magazine holder,
cut straight across then back up
other side at the same angle.
You can paint the box or use
old newspaper or wrapping paper to decorate it!

Easy Peasy!

Beth also takes old plastic milk containers
and cuts a hole in them and
uses them to carry bird food out to the feeders.
Also large plastic coffee containers
to scoop the deer feed out of the bags.

Every little bit helps....

If you have some tips on how
to make use of what would be garbage
-- please share it!

It may give the rest of us
more ideas on how to help out the earth!

Later -- Remington --
The Earth friendly Newfie --
off to recycle something
 -- out!

Note --
I am taking Mike and Beth
on a road trip today so
I won't be by to see anyone!

have fun on the road trip, i am wondering if they will let you drive, since you do everything else so well. happy earth day and thanks for the tips. i recycle everything i can and have found many uses for the 2 pound coffee containers, i use them for storing sugar and flour and other things that come in bags. hubby also uses them to start seedlings in. i use butter tubs and all plastic that comes with a lid for storage in the fridge.

We save the earth at our house too!! It is fun going green!! Great ideas. Mom also like to cut the milk cartons so that they have a handle and so that Kyla and Kaleb can toss the ball back and forth and catch it in their milk carton. That is after they decorate them first, of course!!!

Hi Rem,
We hope you all had a good trip. What a very nice Earth Day post and suggestions. Mom buys huge boxes of Cheerios which would make great mag.racks.

Well, currently when Meowm gets some of those plastic bags from the grocery store, she re-uses them as trash bags when scooping our litter. This way she can close up our stinkiness and re-use the bags. She does use the cloth bags most of the time.

Meowm has also purchased re-usable coffee cups. And she recycles the cans from our stinky goodness.

Have a great road trip!

Ooooh, have a fun road trip!!

Great recycling ideas--I'm 99% sure I'm going to make that magazine holder! I need one and I don't want to pay for one and I also want to save the Earth!

Spongebob rocks...period. We also picked up a "Curious George Goes Green" DVD for Aunt Baddy (shhhh...don't tell her!).

Those are excellent recycle/reuse ideas! I hope you are going out to enjoy our wonderful planet!

This weekend should be a wonderful celebration of life: Earth Day, Ronnii and Richie's Party, Easter. May you feel the awakening of all that is bright and new and beautiful.

I do my part (as often as the PUs will allow me) to recycle all paper and boxes, but they do not seem appreciative of my abilities because they always take them away from me. Mebbee my final product is not quite as attractive as yours, but hey-I tried!

Happy Easter, Remington!
