Seuss day!

107 Years of Dr.Seuss

Happy Birthday to Theodor Seuss Geisel!

We remember this prolific figure
on what would have been his 107th birthday.
With his help,
so many children have been
able to plant the seed of literary love at an early age.

He passed away in 1991 at the age of 87.

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells.
Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living,
it's a way of looking at life through the
wrong end of a telescope.
Which is what I do,
and that enables you to laugh at life's realities.

Dr. Seuss

Later -- Remington --
words to live by
-- out!

This is going to be hard to believe...but I have never actually read a Dr. Seuss book when I was a kid. For some reason my strange father didn't like all the nonsense in them so he didn't let my mom read them to us! How rude!!!

I have, however, read the Dr. Seuss books to kids I have babysat and I love the books and can't believe what all I missed out on as a kid!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

hey Remington,

Great tribute! Dr. Suess rocks! My human grew up with his books, and worked at a Dr. Suess "Grinch" Christmas display/store in a Mpls department store on Christmas. She loves him, as do countless others around the World.

Imagination rules! Humans need to use their imagination and creativity more, to make this World a much more fun, happy place!

Thanks a bunch for the Seuss info, Rem!!! I LOVE him, and have actually put his rhymes on our prayer line!!! That being my favorite "How did it get so late so soon..." I'm thinking I will use this info in some way, maybe at church or on my blog. Rem, you have an encyclopedic brain!!!

Still some of the best literature around! Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! Momma says she still thinks the funniest moment on Saturday Night Live (yes, she is VERY old) was when the Rev. Jesse Jackson read "Green Eggs and Ham" as though he were delivering a sermon...cracks her up to think about it! The Butter Battle Book and You're Only Old Once are two of his books every grown-up should read!

My kids grew up on Dr. Seuss and Dr. Spock. And when I was the attendant in the Church Nursery, there was a little 4-year-old girl who had read the series so many times she could recite them by looking at the pictures. One time I accidentally turned two pages at once, and she said, "Hey, that isn't right" and turned back the extra page so she could tell the story "in full."
