Moonshadow....

Oh, I'm bein' followed by a moonshadow....

Oh no, it's just Ozabella.

We really enjoyed the Full Wolf Moon last night!

Here are some shots we got -- starting before dark.

This was at 4:45pm

This was at 6:45pm

Got a little spooky with all the clouds
 but was fun to watch.

I had my first question about
the Full Moon yesterday....

Queen Madi asked --
"Mom was noticing last night that the moon
was full and had a ring around it....
the old folks used to say that meant
the weather was changing...
do you have any info about that in RRC?"

I went directly to RRC and
here is what I found....

Moon halos are caused by tiny ice crystals that
have gathered twenty thousand feet
above the ground, as thin, wispy clouds.
These clouds are so thin,
you might not notice them at night,
if it weren’t for their effect on the moonlight.
Incoming light rays from the moon
are bent, or diffracted, by these
ice crystals at an angle of 22 degrees.

This means that in addition to the
direct moonlight, you will also see
diffracted moonlight in a circle
22 degrees away from the moon.
This is about the distance of your fist,
held at arm’s length.

Like a rainbow, this halo can even be
slightly colored; red on the inside,
and blue on the outside.

Yes, it can mean that rain or snow is coming soon.
Those high, wispy clouds could be the
forerunners of storm clouds right behind them.

I hope this answered your question, Queen Madi!

So until the next Full Moon on February 18th....
My little sidekick and I will need to rest up!

Later -- Remington --
The Full Moon reporter
 -- out!

We had a lovely full moon this morning for walkies, and there was, indeed a ring around it....

so, yesterday it was 52 degrees, and tomorrow the high will be in the low to mid thirties.

does that count as a change?

we have always said if there is one ring, the weather will change in one day, 2 rings 2 days, any rings at all means weather is going to change. so i think this is all true. great shots of the wolf moon, some are a litle spooky

We didn't see the moon last night - our vision was clouded by glorious snow falling:) We only got about 6 inches - but it is great fun to have some more.

We just love how Ozzabella wants to be so close to you. It truly shows what a gentle spirit you have.

Remi, we love those moon photos...especially the spooky ones. We tried to get Meowm out there last night to howl with you, but she wouldn't budge. She said it was way to chilly last night. Maybe she will do this during the Summer. ;)

hey Remington,

Awesome - and pawsome! - moon shots! My human and I love the cloudy spooky ones the best. What kind of camera did you use (my human is curious...). Such cool pics! We love the moon! Without the moon, what would we howl at?

I had my very own snow falling on me all night, so no moon to view, just lovely sweet flakes of white wonderful fun! I can catch the next full moon! :->

What a thorough answer to Queen Madi! Very smart pup!

Hey Ozabella! Looking cute as ever!

You always have the answer, Rem! Thanks.
Moonshadow is MY song...momma used to sing it to me when I was a pup only she would sing, "I have a puppy who's my moonshadow"! Sometimes when things are scary now or I have the sickies, she still sings it to me!
