Rem Project #115

I have been busy on Remington Dr. trying to make it my very own.
I have been working on a project.
It's a bird bath and I made it all by myself -- well almost,
I did have some help from Mike and Beth.
This is what I did....
I put some cardboard on the garage floor.
Then I got a bag of sand and made a pile.
I put some clear wrap (like glad wrap) on the sand.
I went out back and picked the biggest rhurbarb leaf I could find....
I laid it good side down on the pile.
Then I mixed up some Quikcrete with water (it's like instant concrete)
and made it so it was soft like a brownie batter when baking....
Then I covered the rhurbarb with it -- don't let any of the sand get on it....
After I had it all smoothed out I went and got another rhurbarb leaf and pressed it down just a little and made a design on the bottom too.  (I didn't leave that one on there)
You don't have to do that -- it was just what I wanted to do....
I wrote my name on the bottom and put the year too!

I let it sit in the garage until it was set (which means dry). That can take a few days....
After 3 days....
Turn it over and clean it up....
I just used a soft bristle brush.
After this step let it sit for about a week to cure.
The veins of the plant will dry out during that time and will come off easily.
You can paint it or just leave it as is but you do need to put a concrete sealer on it (you can get that at a hardware store) it protects it!
Then you have a  bird bath or you can use it as a bird feeder.

Easy peasy!

Just one more thing to make Remington Dr. special....
Isn't it cool? I would say it's Remtastic! I sure hope the birdies like it!

Later -- Remington --
still thinking of projects for Remington Drive,
any ideas?
-- out!
