"Syttende Mai"
It was on May 17, 1814 that Norway's constitution was signed which made Norway a free and independent nation. So today we celebrate their independence! Beth is a Norwegian and VERY proud of this! The picture above is of me sitting with her first spinning wheel that was given to her when she was 10 years old. It belonged to her Great Grandma Lahren. Her grandmother brought it to the states from Norway when she was 19 years old. That would make this wheel 121 years old and Beth still uses it. Beth does not think it was new when her grandmother brought it to the states so it may even be older than that.
So instead of dressing up in costume today I thought it would be nice just to sit by something from Norway!
Tonight -- Lutefisk and Lefse! I don't have a clue what that is -- but I guess I will find out!
Later -- Remington -- Happy "Syttende Mai" -- Ut!

Wow! That sure is nice! Does Beth spin your hairs into yarn??? Just think, a hat made out of Rem hairs! That would be so cool!
Rem what a beautiful antique spinning wheel. It is so amazing to have something that special....can you imagine the stories that spinning wheel could tell if it could talk.
Not only are you handsome you speak yet another language.
How is Oz doing?
Happy Monday
Hugs Madi
Lutefisk...nah, don't like it. Take the plate when they are done and lick the butter sauce. Lefse...I prefer mine with sugar please...and I've never had it, but muzzer says you might like something called Blood Klub (she says it like it is spelled with a long U) but it might depend on whether you are a Lutheran or not.
I don't understand any of this...but they get homesick every once in a while like this.

That's a beautiful spinning wheel and it's really old! Have you tried to spin something out from it?

Happy May 17th Remington!
My mom has one of those spinning wheel things too, it belonged to her great-grandma as well. Mom says that by having the wheel she has a connection to her past and that makes it special.
Tell Oz hi from me!

Be careful around that wheel...don't want anyone to accidentally spin YOU!
That's a very interesting spinning wheel. Beth actually uses it? That is really neat! Have fun eating lutefisk tonight!
Does Beth spin, Remington? Mom has lots of yarn winders and spinning wheels and wool wheels but they're just decorations.
So you like the M&M car too! :-)
