Full Moon Alert....

Keep your eyes to the sky tonight for the full moon!  I am a little confused as last night on the weather station they said the full moon was on the 29th.  But from what I have found it is suppose to be on the 30th so we should be able to see it tonight.  Anyway, here is the information I have found about the full moon for March....this month the name of the full moon is The Full Worm Moon.  From what I have found in my research -- as the temperature begins to warm and the ground begins to thaw, earthworm casts appear, heralding the return of the robins. The more northern tribes knew this Moon as the Full Crow Moon, when the cawing of crows signaled the end of winter; or the Full Crust Moon, because the snow cover becomes crusted from thawing by day and freezing at night. The Full Sap Moon, marking the time of tapping maple trees, is another variation. To the settlers, it was also known as the Lenten Moon, and was considered to be the last full Moon of winter.

Picture provided by the internet....

So as you see there are different names for this full moon but I like Worm Moon cause it sounds cool!

Hopefully Mike will get some good pictures tonight and I will post them for you to see the Worm Moon in Minnesota!

Later -- Remington -- gonna be howling at the Worm Moon tonight! -- out!

Check on the crows and the earthworms at this end! The moon looked very lovely as it was rising last night, and we hope to be able t admire it again tonight.

Thanks for all the great info, Remington!

Rem,
You are so very wise and studious looking in your spectacles. Are you sitting in the chair? MOL!!!
Lovely Worm Moon as for the creeping, crawling earthworms I will watch my step if I go outside don't want to step on the wigglers coming out of hibernation.

WOW! That's some pretty interesting facts there. On Sunday night Mom said we had a 'werewolf' moon - it was all foggy and the moon was waxing (we think that's the right term).

XOXO

Hi Remington, I knew this moon was called the Full Worm Moon. I don't think much of those things myself, butt one of my predecesors (the Lovely Lady, Duchess Lisel vonSchnitzel) used to pull them up and let them die on the sidewalk then... either eat them or.... ROLL on them when they were really stinko! Mom appreciates me more then she did Lisel. hehehe
Thank you for sharing all the lunar info..

I did not know all that! Thank you for sharing! Only thing is, when there is a full moon, my porch "bedroom" is a bit to bright. I love sleeping out there this time of year!

Very interesting!!! And more so because on our walks and all this past week the ravens (I think they are related to the crows. The ravens look like crows on steroids) have been very very vocal!!! So I am now thinking Spring is near. I was able to be bare footed on my deck on Monday afternoon! xoxo

Hi Remington, I have seen the worm casts in our yard and the Robins have returned for the
spring. But we awoke to snow falling from the sky this morning. I sure hope the worms don't freeze and the Robins don't go away again! Hugs and wags, Mistaya

Remington that is very interesting information. We like all the names of the moon but mom isn't a fan of the worm moon name. For some reason she doesn't like worms.
