Rem Rogers and the old days super heroes

Beth and I have been talking and she said when she was little that what we call Super Heroes today were different back then. I asked who her favorite old time super hero was and she said Roy Rogers. He was known as the "King of the Cowboys". SOOOO I did some research and found things REALLY were different back then. He didn't fly or say bad words and he wasn't mean to anyone unless they did bad stuff and then he would take them to jail. Did you know that he had RULES you were suppose to follow? Here's what I found:

Roy Rogers Riders Club Rules:

1. Be neat and clean.

2. Be courteous and polite.

3. Always obey your parents.

4. Protect the weak and help them.

5. Be brave but never take chances.

6. Study hard and learn all you can.

7. Be kind to animals and take care of them.

8. Eat all your food and never waste any.

9. Love God and go to Sunday school regularly.

10. Always respect our flag and our country.

They are good rules. I think even in today's world they would be good rules to go by. Maybe I should start a Rem Rogers Club and we could use these good rules!  I was so impressed with Roy Rogers that I thought I would try to be like him.

Here is Roy Rogers

Here is Rem Rogers

I think it will work! He had a horse named Trigger and I have a good friend named Tigger. (be sure to check Tigger out -- he is way cool!) Roy Rogers liked to make people happy by singing. Guess what? I also like to sing. And as a tribute to Roy Rogers I have done a rendition of one of his songs to fit "my world". Here goes:

Happy Tails (Happy Trails)

Some tails are happy ones,
Some don't have a clue.
It's the way you wag your tail that counts,
Here's a happy one for you.

Happy tails to you, until we meet again.
Happy tails to you, keep waggin' until then.
Who cares about the drool when we're together?
Just bark really loud and bring the sunny weather.

Happy tails to you, 'till we meet again.

Thank you, thank you very much!

Here is Roy Rogers at a club meeting....wow, I wish things were like that now. It makes me feel all good and safe....

Until we meet again buckaroos -- Rem Rogers -- the singing Newfie -- Good bye, Good Luck and may the good Lord take a liking to you....

I met Roy in 1985. He was our spokesman when I worked for Thousand Trails in Seattle (I was an IT guy). He was a real class act. Must of been in his 80s then. Always had time to shake hands, pose for pictures and tell a story now and again. Rem, you picked the right guy to emulate. YeeeeeeeeeeHaaaaa

Here's some trivia: do you remember the name of Roy and Dale's Jeep in their TV show?

And yes, Trigger is stuffed and (or was) on display at the RR museum in Apple Valley, CA.

Way to go Bro and Beth.
Sign me up for the Rem Rogers Club. Mom is thinking the club rules will give me some guidelines to live by. One question..... is there a rule about Newfie's counter surfing when no one is looking? Just thought I would ask as Mom made lemon poppyseed muffins this morning and I just couldn't help but try one out. Warm muffins are one of my favorites. Maybe one of our horses' saddles would fit and I could be Leo the Wonder Horse.

Have a good one and I'm humming the club theme song as I type. Catchy little tune!

I agree with Ms. K, the world does need more heroes like Rog Rogers and Rem Rogers. Those are really good rules, Roy Rogers was a hero to a lot of kids in those days. We love your Happy Tails song.
