Rest In Peace -- Keisha -- 1996 - 2010

Today is a sad day for our family. My sister Keisha is no longer with us. God came and took her to live at the Rainbow Bridge. That is a place right by the gate to heaven where pets go to wait for their humans to come and take them to heaven with them. She will wait there until Mike or Beth go to live with God. Beth said not to be sad because now she is no longer in pain. And at the Rainbow Bridge she will get to play like a little kitten again. She will be happy and there is sunshine and green grass for her to play in. She will be with Samuel and Taylor, Mike and Beth's Newfoundland's that use to live with Keisha. So Beth said don't be sad for her -- she is just fine. But it's okay to be sad because we miss her.
She got really sick yesterday morning. Beth took REALLY good care of her. Beth didn't pay much attention to the rest of us but that's okay we knew something was wrong. Then today this lady came to the house. Beth said she was a Dr., like the Dr. where I go.
Keisha laid in Beth's arms on her favorite blanket next to the fireplace. The Dr. gave her a shot like I get sometimes but she went right to sleep. Beth and Mike cried a lot. So did the rest of us.
Keisha was 14 years old. Mike and Beth rescued her when she was 1 - 1/2 years old. Someone had left her in the country to take care of herself. When Beth found her she was sick and had to have a surgery. Beth took care of her then too. She has lived with Mike and Beth ever since and they loved her very, very much.
I am glad she is okay, but I miss her. There will be an empty feeling in our home without her. Beth said that feeling never goes completely away.
I think I will go and think of some happy memories of Keisha. She will always be in my heart.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
